According to Dutta, the industry's significance lies in its ability to connect people, businesses and families while supporting India's economic growth. He noted that every new vehicle launch and technological advancement ultimately impacts consumers, whether it is a young professional purchasing a first car, a family opting for an electric vehicle or an entrepreneur expanding a business. Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have registered an FIR against Meta India head Arun Srinivas and several operators of several Facebook and Instagram accounts over the circulation of AI-generated morphed videos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led NEET paper leak protest.  The development comes as the Centre seeks fresh explanation from the company over the temporary restriction placed on one of the Prime Minister's Facebook posts. The case marks one of the highest-profile investigations involving a senior executive of a global technology company in India and comes amid increasing scrutiny of social media platforms over AI-generated misinformation. FIR Registered Over AI-Generated Videos The FIR relates to the circulation of manipulated videos of Prime Minister Modi on Meta-owned platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. Investigators suspect the content may have misled the public and are examining possible violations under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act, India Today reported. The Cyber Crime Police are investigating the origin of the AI-generated videos, how they were amplified across Meta platforms, and whether the company's existing safeguards were sufficient to prevent their spread. The probe will also examine the role of individuals accused of creating, uploading or sharing the manipulated content. A company representative reportedly appeared before investigators and briefed officials on Meta's content moderation practices and compliance mechanisms, the report said. Police said the investigation remains at a preliminary stage and that no conclusions have been reached. They added that any further action would depend on digital evidence collected during the probe. Centre Seeks Detailed Clarification Separately, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has asked senior Meta officials to appear before the government within the next seven to 10 days to explain the temporary restriction placed on one of Prime Minister Modi's Facebook posts. MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan said the government is seeking both policy-level and technical explanations from the company. “India intends to convey its concerns directly to Meta and obtain a comprehensive account of the circumstances that led to the brief restriction,” he said. “Meta has already conveyed its regret over the incident and provided a preliminary explanation to the government. However, the Centre has sought a more detailed clarification, including the measures the company is putting in place to ensure such incidents do not recur,” Krishnan stated. Although Meta attributed the restriction to a technical glitch and apologised for the incident, the Centre has said the explanation provided so far is insufficient and has sought a more comprehensive account of what led to the episode. “Brain rot” is not a medical diagnosis. It is a popular term used to describe the mental fatigue and reduced attention people may experience after consuming endless streams of short, repetitive online content. For the eyes, however, the effects of binge scrolling are more specific. Infinite feeds remove natural stopping points. A few minutes of phone use can quickly turn into an hour, leaving the eyes fixed on a small screen at close range for long periods. What Happens During Continuous Scrolling? When we stare at a phone, our blink rate falls, and many blinks become incomplete. This causes the tear film covering the eye to evaporate faster, leading to burning, grittiness, redness, heaviness, watering, and intermittent blurred vision. Watery eyes can also be a sign of dryness. When the surface of the eye becomes irritated, it may produce reflex tears, but these tears do not always lubricate the eye effectively. Contact-lens users and people sitting in air-conditioned or low-humidity environments may experience these symptoms more quickly. Small text, glare, poor lighting, and holding the phone too close can make these symptoms worse. Can Binge Scrolling Cause Permanent Damage? For most adults, digital eye strain is uncomfortable but temporary. Symptoms usually improve with rest and healthier screen habits. Normal phone use has not been shown to directly damage the retina. However, children and teenagers require greater caution. Long periods of near work, excessive screen exposure and insufficient outdoor activity are associated with the development and progression of myopia, or short-sightedness. Binge scrolling also often continues late into the night. This can disrupt sleep and leave the eyes feeling dry, heavy and tired the following morning. Blink consciously, enlarge the text, and keep the phone at a comfortable distance from the face. Avoid using screens in a completely dark room, reduce glare, and take longer screen-free breaks between sessions. Children should also be encouraged to spend regular time outdoors. Persistent blurred vision, frequent headaches, severe redness, eye pain, sensitivity to light, or symptoms that continue despite rest should not be dismissed as “just screen time.” They may indicate dry-eye disease, an uncorrected spectacle power, or another condition requiring an eye examination. The goal is not to eliminate screens. It is to stop using them without pause. Our eyes are designed to blink, change focus, and look into the distance, not remain locked onto an endless feed. Russia charges Telegram founder Durov with aiding terrorism The court action comes a day after Russia charged Telegram's billionaire founder Pavel Durov with facilitating terrorist activity. Russia's Federal Security Service issued an international warrant for his arrest, alleging the platform was used by Ukrainian operatives to organize attacks inside Russia. Soon after the news of the warrant broke, Telegram's account on X posted a picture of Durov giving a middle finger to the camera. The Russian-born billionaire Durov, now based in Dubai, built the Telegram messaging app with his brother Nikolai and launched it in 2013. The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a statewide ban on the sale, distribution and promotion of junk food in and around school campuses, aiming to encourage healthier eating habits among students. The new directive prohibits the sale of high-fat, high-sugar and deep-fried food items within school premises as well as within a 50-metre radius of schools.  The decision places responsibility on school administrations to ensure compliance and create awareness among students and parents about the importance of healthy food choices.  ALSO READ: NEP 2020 Completes 6 Years: What Every Student And Parent Should Know About India's Education Reforms Junk Food Sale Prohibited Inside and Around Schools  FDA Commissioner Tukaram Munde said the restrictions cover a wide range of commonly consumed snacks and beverages that are considered unhealthy.  "I want to make it clear that excess fat, excess trans fat and excess sugar products, including deeply fried foods, excessive sugar drinks, vada pav, samosa, cold drinks, chocolates and ice cream, such junk foods are strictly not allowed inside schools to be sold, not be distributed freely, advertise and also not in the surrounding (50 metres range). Principal and School Management should implement this strictly, and there should also be awareness about it among parents," he said.  The directive applies not only to school canteens but also to vendors and businesses operating near educational institutions. School authorities have been instructed to ensure that the new rules are followed without exception.  Schools Face Action for Non-Compliance  The FDA has warned that schools failing to implement the guidelines could face action. According to the department, principals and school management committees will be held accountable if the rules are ignored.  "We will start inspections across the State soon. FDA along with School Management will be happy to take a workshop at District level and Taluka level to implement it smoothly," Munde added.  The department plans to conduct inspections across Maharashtra in the coming weeks while also organising awareness workshops at district and taluka levels to help schools understand and implement the new regulations effectively.  FDA Also Shares Update on MPSC Examination Complaint  During the announcement, the FDA Commissioner also responded to questions regarding an alleged MPSC examination paper leak. He clarified that the department had already forwarded the available information to the concerned authorities.  "We received an email from an individual on the 21st. We recorded the person's statement on the 24th. MPSC is an independent body, and it conducts the Food and Drug Inspector examination. We have forwarded the statement and all the documents we received to the MPSC," Tukaram Munde said.  Recent Food Safety Drive Targets Hygiene Violations  The latest order follows the FDA's recent enforcement drive against food safety violations in Mumbai.
