Rare Earth crisis deepens: China’s shipments sink to five-year low; down 74% YoY in May

China's rare earth magnet exports plummeted in May, hitting a five-year low due to new export restrictions and stricter customs scrutiny. This disruption has impacted global industries, including automotive and aerospace. While China aims to control strategic resources and ease trade tensions, customs delays and regulatory ambiguity persist, hindering shipments despite some export licenses being approved.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE Leaks In Full Glory Months Ahead Of Release: Check Out Photos

Samsung's next Fan Edition smartphone may have just had its big reveal, thanks to a fresh batch of leaked renders. Following closely on the heels of recent Galaxy Z Fold 7 leaks, new images of the Galaxy S25 FE have surfaced online, courtesy of SammyGuru's exclusive report. Subtle Design Tweaks Keep The Familiar Look Fresh The Galaxy S25 FE appears to stay true to the design language of its predecessor but introduces a few noteworthy refinements. While the overall look remains instantly recognisable, Samsung seems to have shaved off some bulk. According to the report, the upcoming device will measure 7.4mm in thickness, a noticeable trim from the 8mm thickness of the Galaxy S24 FE. The height is also slightly reduced to 161.4mm compared to the previous 162mm. Bezels, a constant focus for smartphone aesthetics, might also see subtle reductions, hinting at a sleeker front profile. Despite these adjustments, Samsung seems committed to retaining the 6.7-inch AMOLED display, complete with a 120Hz refresh rate that has become a staple for the series. Camera Gets A Modest Yet Welcome Upgrade The leaked details suggest Samsung may finally address one of the few criticisms of the FE series: the front camera. The Galaxy S25 FE is expected to receive a bump from a 10MP to a 12MP selfie shooter, aligning it more closely with the flagship Galaxy S25 and S25 Ultra models. On the back, the familiar triple-lens setup returns, led by a 50MP primary sensor. This will reportedly be supported by a 12MP ultrawide lens and a 10MP telephoto sensor, maintaining the camera versatility that the FE line has come to be known for. The Chipset Mystery Continues While the design and camera specs are beginning to take shape, questions remain about what will power the Galaxy S25 FE under the hood. Two contenders are reportedly in the running: Samsung's in-house Exynos 2400 and MediaTek's Dimensity 9400. A recent Geekbench appearance of what is believed to be the S25 FE hints at the use of an Exynos chip, though official confirmation is still awaited. One detail that is confirmed, however, is the software. The Galaxy S25 FE will launch with Samsung's One UI 8 and will benefit from the company’s long-term software support policy, offering seven years of OS and security updates. The Galaxy S25 FE is not expected to debut at Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event next month. Instead, it is slated for a Q4 2025 release, giving fans something to look forward to as the year winds down.

Thailand’s PM Paetongtarn In Crisis Mode After Leaked Call With Cambodian PM

Thailand Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s government is on the brink of collapse just 10 months into power, following a leaked phone call with Cambodian leader Hun Sen that has sparked public outrage and triggered a political crisis. Thailand PM's Leaked Call Triggers Outrage In the controversial audio clip, Paetongtarn, 38, can be heard addressing Hun Sen — a long-time family friend — as “uncle” and seemingly criticising a top Thai military commander’s handling of an escalating border conflict. “I would like to apologise for the leaked audio of my conversation with a Cambodian leader which has caused public resentment,” she said on Thursday, as demands for her resignation gained momentum. Key Coalition Partner Quits The fallout escalated when Bhumjaithai, the ruling coalition’s second-largest party, withdrew its support on Wednesday, delivering a heavy blow to the Peu Thai-led administration’s fragile majority in parliament. The situation remains tense, with two other coalition partners meeting on Thursday to reassess their stance. Criticism Over ‘Negotiation Technique’ According to a BBC report, critics wasted no time attacking Paetongtarn’s perceived subservience to Hun Sen and her remarks about the Thai military, which she said “just wanted to look cool and said things that are not useful.” She defended the exchange as a “negotiation technique,” but the public backlash has been severe. The Shinawatra family’s close ties with Cambodia’s ruling Hun family have long raised suspicions among Thai nationalists. Her father, Thaksin Shinawatra, and Hun Sen have often referred to each other as “godbrothers.” Hun Sen Releases Full Clip Hun Sen admitted to sharing the audio with 80 politicians before releasing the entire 17-minute recording on Facebook. In response, Thailand’s foreign ministry sent a letter to Cambodia’s ambassador, expressing “deep disappointment” over the leak of what it described as a “private telephone conversation.” It cautioned that the disclosure “will severely affect ongoing efforts for both sides to resolve the problem in good faith.” Thai-Cambodian Border Tensions Worsen Tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border have been steadily rising since last month when a Cambodian soldier was killed in a clash, marking the lowest point in diplomatic relations in over a decade. Cambodia retaliated by imposing broad bans on Thai imports — including agricultural products, electricity, and even popular Thai television dramas — while both countries introduced new border restrictions. Thailand’s Youngest PM Under Fire Paetongtarn, who became Thailand’s youngest prime minister and only the second woman to hold the office (after her aunt Yingluck Shinawatra), took power last August following her predecessor Srettha Thavisin’s removal by court order. Now, with her coalition fracturing and criticism mounting, her political future hangs in the balance.

Gold Slides From Highs As Powell Tempers Rate Cut Expectations; Check Details Here

Gold prices slipped after the US Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged and signalled a more gradual path for rate cuts, analysts said on Friday. US Fed Chair Jerome Powell noted the central bank expects an increase in inflation in the coming months amidst tariffs and other factors, reinforcing a cautious policy stance. While markets initially responded with optimism, Powell tempered expectations by reiterating that with low and stable unemployment, the Fed is well-positioned to wait for more data before making any moves. Though he hinted that September could be a "live" meeting, however market participants have been discounting the same since sometime. Fed still anticipates rate cuts totaling 50 basis points in 2025, but now sees only 25 basis points of easing each in 2026 and 2027. “Powell emphasised that these forecasts are highly data-dependent, especially on inflation trends. Meanwhile, geopolitical developments added to market uncertainty, as President Donald Trump floated the idea of meeting with Iran over the Iran-Israel conflict, and Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed readiness for substantive peace talks with Ukraine,” said Manav Modi, Senior Analyst, Commodity Research at Motilal Oswal Financial services Ltd. There is still no resolution on the Israel and Iran and the war like situation continues however expectations of an ease off is weighing on prices. Also Read : India Ranks Third Globally In Power Capacity Growth: IEA “US weekly jobless claims also was reported lower than expectations giving a jerk to prices. Volatility could be lower today as US markets remain shut on the back of public holiday,” he mentioned. According to Rahul Kalantri, VP Commodities, Mehta Equities Ltd, gold and silver prices slid from recent highs, nearing one-week lows and heading for their first weekly decline in three weeks. Silver prices fell below $35.70 per ounce after a sharp rally earlier in the week. The decline came as investors liquidated positions in bullion to cover losses elsewhere amid rising geopolitical tensions between Israel and Iran. “The Bank of England also held rates steady in its monetary policy meetings on Thursday which also limited gains of precious metals. However, escalation of the Israel-Iran war and weaker dollar index are supporting safe-haven buying for precious metals. Weakness in the rupee is also supporting prices of gold and silver in the domestic markets,” Kalantri explained. Gold has support at $3340-3315 while resistance is at $3380-3400. Silver has support at $35.75-35.50 while resistance is at $36.35-36.55. “In Indian rupee terms, gold has support at Rs 98,750-98,550 while resistance is at Rs 99,550-99,740. Silver has support at Rs 106,380-105,500 while resistance is at Rs 1,08,350-1,09,000,” he noted. (This report has been published as part of the auto-generated syndicate wire feed.
