Injury Storm Hits Indian Cricket: 3 Players Undergo Surgery, RCB Captain Injured

The Indian cricket team is currently facing a challenging period marked by a string of injuries. Recently, players like Nitish Kumar Reddy, Akash Deep, and Arshdeep Singh have drawn attention due to fitness concerns.

Now, a few domestic cricketers — some of whom have already represented India — have also fallen prey to injuries.

Three players have undergone surgery, while Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar is also dealing with an injury. In total, four concerning updates have emerged for Indian cricket.

    Three Players Go Through Surgery

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav continues to be in the news due to his recurring injury woes.

He featured in just two matches during the IPL 2025 season before getting injured again. This led to his exit from the tournament, and last month, he had surgery in New Zealand.

As per reports, he is expected to be out of action for 6 to 8 months. Although he has played three T20 internationals for India, his career has been repeatedly stalled due to ongoing fitness issues.

Alongside him, pacers Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan have also sustained injuries. Avesh played 13 games in IPL 2025 and claimed 13 wickets but has been away from the field due to a knee problem. He underwent surgery on June 17, 2025.

Mohsin, on the other hand, had ACL surgery last month and missed the entire IPL season. As a result, all three players are likely to miss the early stages of the 2025–26 domestic season.

Injury Blow for RCB Skipper Rajat Patidar

RCB captain Rajat Patidar, who led the team to a long-awaited title win, is also recovering from an injury. He won’t be taking part in the Duleep Trophy for Madhya Pradesh.

According to a report, he has sustained injuries to both his heel and hand. While he is currently recovering, it is expected to take some time before he returns to full fitness. However, he is likely to be available for the Ranji Trophy.

Rajat, who has previously featured in Test and ODI formats for India, was being considered for selection in the current Test series against England. Unfortunately, a hand injury has ruled him out of contention.
