Hariyali Teej 2025: Hariyali Teej holds special significance for married Hindu women, particularly those observing it for the first time. On this day, women observe a fast and pray for the long life and well-being of their husbands, as well as for a blissful married life. According to the Hindu Panchang, the fast is observed annually on the Tritiya Tithi (third day) of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Sawan.

In 2025, the Hariyali Teej fast will be observed on 27 July. The Tritiya Tithi begins on 26 July at 10:41 PM and ends on 27 July at 10:41 PM. Following the Udaya Tithi (sunrise timing), the fast and related rituals will take place on 27 July.

Rules For First Hariyali Teej Vrat 2025

    • Apply Mehndi (Henna):
It is considered highly auspicious to apply mehndi a day before the fast. Mehndi is a part of the 16 traditional bridal adornments (Solah Shringar), and especially important for those observing the vrat for the first time.
    • Wear Green Attire:
Wearing green symbolizes prosperity and harmony. Women should prepare a green saree, suit, or lehenga in advance for the puja.
    • Observe Nirjala Vrat (without food or water):
The fast is traditionally observed without food and water throughout the day. It is broken only after offering Arghya to the moon at night. However, if one is unable to observe a Nirjala Vrat due to health reasons, they may opt for a fruit-only fast.
    • Perform Solah Shringar (Sixteen Adornments):
On Hariyali Teej, women adorn themselves with full bridal makeup and accessories, just like a bride. It is believed that performing Solah Shringar invites the blessings of Goddess Parvati and ensures happiness in marital life.
