BYD Sealion 6 Plug-In Hybrid With More Than 1000Km Range Launching Soon In India

BYD could launch its first hybrid soon in India with the Sealion 6 which it already showed at the Auto Expo. This is a plug-in hybrid SUV and one that comes with a 1.5-litre petrol along with a 18.3 kwh battery pack. The SUV has a 60 litre tank and can go more than a 1000km per full tank. That is a crucial highlight for the BYD Sealion 6 and will be the biggest selling point as far as range is concerned. India will get the top-end and the single motor version while the dual motor one makes a lot more power. Expect the dual motor version to make upwards of 300bhp and 500Nm.

Electric only range is around 80-90km. While the shape is similar to the BYD Sealion 7, the Sealion 6 looks more upright and less sporty while the cabin has a dual-tone look as well. The 6 looks more conventional over the 7 and will appeal to those who travel longer distances. This would be the first plug-in hybrid for India by BYD and the India spec version would be well equipped with features like a 10 speaker audio system, rotating touchscreen, 360 degree camera, powered front seats and more.

The pricing would be around the Sealion 7 although could be less given the fact that the Sealion 7 has a lot more performance over the Sealion 6. We expect a launch by the end of the year for sure after the launch of the Sealion 7 sometime back.
