Budhwa Mangal 2025 — Significance And Rituals Of The Last Bada Mangal In Jyeshtha Month

In the Hindu calendar, every Tuesday falling in the month of Jyeshtha is observed as Bada Mangal, also known as Budhwa Mangal. This special occasion is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and holds deep spiritual significance. In 2025, the Jyeshtha month began on May 13 and will conclude with Jyeshtha Purnima on June 11. This year, there are five Tuesdays in the month, with the final Bada Mangal falling on June 10, 2025.

While Tuesdays are generally considered auspicious for the worship of Lord Hanuman, the Tuesdays of Jyeshtha month are believed to be especially sacred. According to mythology, it was on a Tuesday during this month that Lord Hanuman first met Lord Rama. Hence, devotees dedicate Bada Mangal to Hanuman, the beloved devotee of Lord Rama.

On this day, devotees worship the elder form of Lord Hanuman (Bajrangbali), and temples see large gatherings of worshippers. Devotees observe fasts, participate in Mangala Aarti, and offer devotional prayers. It is believed that certain rituals performed on this day can bring miraculous changes in life and remove hardships.

Rituals To Perform On The Last Bada Mangal:

    • Early Morning Worship: Wake up early, take a bath, and wear saffron or red-colored clothes. Visit a Hanuman temple and offer vermilion (sindoor), a sacred Hanuman chola (cloak), and jasmine oil.
    • Offerings: Devotees present red flowers, red garments, and food items like jaggery and roasted gram (gud chana), saffron rice, Imarti or jalebi, laddoos, and coconut as offerings.
    • Chanting Hanuman Chalisa: Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa or Sundarkand is one of the most effective ways to seek Lord Hanuman's blessings. On the last Bada Mangal, it is highly recommended to recite Hanuman Chalisa at least 5, 7, or 11 times.
    • Charity and Feeding Monkeys: Donating red items like red lentils, red clothing, or jaggery is considered highly beneficial. Feeding monkeys with bananas or gud chana is also believed to invoke Hanuman’s divine blessings. Such practices are also known to reduce Manglik dosha (Mars-related afflictions) in one’s horoscope.
