Stock Markets End Higher, Sensex Ends At 83,680, Nifty Tests 25,800

The Indian benchmark indices witnessed significant gains on Wednesday as the Sensex closed trade at 83,688.29 rising over 237 points and the Nifty ended at 25,804.15 rising 78 points at 3:30 PM. In the 30-share BSE Sensex, the top gainers included stocks like Kwality Walls, Tata Steel, ITC, Axis Bank and Mahindra and Mahindra. Meanwhile, the laggards included stocks such as ICICI Bank, Maruti, HDFC Bank, Asian Paint and IndiGo. In the broader markets, the Nifty Smallcap 50 rose 0.60 per cent as volatility remained high. Sectorally, the Nifty Metal index gained 1.33 per cent and the Nifty IT index fell 1.21 per cent. Previously, during the morning session, the BSE benchmark opened the session above 83,400, slipping almost 30 points, and the NSE Nifty50 started the day around 25,700, inching down 15 points, as of 9:15 AM. IT And Services Stocks Weigh On Markets Shares in the IT and services space exerted pressure on the broader market, with analysts cautioning that turbulence in the segment may persist. “The volatility in IT stocks may continue, in response to incoming news relating to the sector. Overall, IT stocks may remain weak since uncertainty surrounding the sector is huge and large institutional investors are unlikely to invest big time in IT stocks, unless valuations become compelling,” VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Ltd, said. He added that portfolio reallocations could favour sectors offering stronger earnings clarity. “There can be churns away from IT towards other sectors like banking and financials, automobiles, telecom, pharmaceuticals etc where there is good earnings visibility,” he noted. Global Cues And Institutional Flows Asian equities delivered a mixed performance. Japan’s Nikkei 225 traded more than 1 per cent higher, while exchanges in China, Hong Kong and South Korea remained closed for the Lunar New Year holidays. Overnight in the United States, markets finished in positive territory on Tuesday, lending some support to global risk sentiment. On the domestic front, institutional participation stayed constructive in the previous session. Exchange data showed that foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers of Rs 995.21 crore on Tuesday. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) also bought equities worth Rs 187.04 crore. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, inched up 0.22 per cent to $67.59 per barrel. Benchmarks Post Second Consecutive Gain On Tuesday, the Sensex climbed 173.81 points, or 0.21 per cent, to close at 83,450.96. During the session, it traded within a narrow band, touching an intraday high of 83,598 and a low of 82,987.43. The Nifty added 42.65 points, or 0.17 per cent, to settle at 25,725.40, indicating a steady recovery despite mixed global signals.

KKR In Trouble Before IPL 2026? Two Key Injuries & Star Signing's Poor Form Raise Alarm

KKR IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders, three-time champions, head into IPL 2026 with one of the most intriguing squads on paper, blending proven match-winners with an exciting crop of emerging talent. Yet, with the tournament’s anticipated start just weeks away, uncertainty has begun to cloud their preparations. A couple of key players are currently battling injuries that may sideline them for a significant stretch of the campaign, if not from the entire season, disrupting the balance that KKR carefully assembled. Additionally, the franchise’s marquee signing has struggled to find rhythm since his high-profile move at the IPL Mini Auction, amplifying concerns within the camp. Harshit Rana & Matheesha Pathirana Battle Injuries Harshit Rana, the young Indian fast bowler from Delhi, has been a key figure for KKR in the last few IPL seasons. 2024 was his best year, in which he picked 19 wickets in 13 matches. Strong performances fast-tracked his promotion to the Indian team, where he also shined, but ran into a knee injury just ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, which ruled him out of the entire tournament. Rana has undergone successful surgery, but whether he will be able to regain match fitness in time for IPL 2026 is another question, and something that remains to be seen. On the other hand, there is Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana, who has troubled batsmen with his speed and slinging action. A regular performer for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he was acquired by KKR during the recent IPL Auction. Unfortunately, his match fitness is currently under concern. During his T20 World Cup match against Australia, Pathirana had to leave the field early due to a hamstring injury. An official update on whether or not he will be able to return to the field is yet to be provided. Cameron Green Struggles With Form Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was the most talked-about free agent ahead of the IPL 2026 Auction, and ended up being the most expensive signing as well, at Rs 25.20 crore. However, since his signing, Green hasn't exactly exhibited the form the franchise would have hoped for. During the Ashes, Green failed to impress, scoring just 171 runs and picking 4 wickets across the 5 Tests. At the ICC T20 World Cup, he has scored 24 runs and picked one wicket in three matches, with Australia's one fixture remaining as of this writing. With the latest edition of the Indian Premier League expected to kick off by the end of March 2026, all of this raises major concern for KKR, who would want to gun for their fourth title.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Might Get Costlier, And Fans Are Already Hesitating

Samsung Galaxy S26 Leaks: Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series is already stirring debate ahead of its expected launch. Multiple reports from different markets suggest Samsung is planning a global price hike across all S26 models. While price increases are common in the premium phone segment, early reactions show mixed feelings.  Many users seem unsure whether the higher prices are justified, especially if the upgrades remain limited. Initial feedback indicates stronger hesitation around the base models, while attention appears more focused on the top-end variant. Galaxy S26 Price Expectations Worry Buyers Recent leaks reported by Phone Arena suggest that Samsung may raise prices for the entire Galaxy S26 lineup, including the standard and Plus models. This has caused concern among buyers who expected meaningful improvements in return.  According to early surveys, many consumers feel the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus do not offer enough visible upgrades to justify a higher price tag. Features and design changes are expected to be modest, which makes the rumoured pricing harder to accept.  As a result, some potential buyers are already reconsidering their plans and may delay upgrades or look at other options. Without clear value additions, higher prices could weaken demand at launch. Galaxy S26 Sales Expectations Face Uncertainty Sales expectations for the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus appear lower compared to their predecessors. Poll data shows very limited interest in these two models following the pricing rumours. This contrasts sharply with last year’s Galaxy S25 series, which recorded strong early sales worldwide. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, however, seems better positioned, with a larger share of users still willing to consider it despite a possible price increase.  Even so, overall sentiment remains cautious. Many buyers say they would only purchase after discounts or special offers. If Samsung does not adjust pricing or bundle incentives, the Galaxy S26 lineup may struggle to match previous sales performance. If you are interested in more such leaks, we've got you covered! We keep a close eye on every latest Samsung Galaxy S26 leak, so stay tuned to know more.

Fresher Hiring Intent Rises To 73%, Retail And Start-Ups Lead

Around 73 per cent of employers intend to hire freshers during January–June 2026, marking a rise of 3 per cent from the previous half‑year, with a shift toward selection frameworks that prioritise demonstrable skills, a report said on Wednesday. The report from TeamLease EdTech said retail led sectoral intent at 91 per cent, e‑commerce and technology start‑ups at 90 per cent and manufacturing at 85 per cent. The report highlighted the most in-demand roles in retail are for dark store assistants and inventory management assistants; in e‑commerce and start‑ups for digital sales associates and junior web developers; and in manufacturing for inventory and logistics coordinators and battery assembly technicians. “The real divide today is between candidates who can demonstrate applied skills and those who cannot,” said Shantanu Rooj, Founder and CEO, TeamLease Edtech. Some sectors are demonstrating a spiking momentum - Retail hiring intent has jumped 50 percent points, from 41 per cent in H1CY25 to 91 per cent in H1CY26, Rooj added. Rooj said the market is undergoing a “structural reset” and urged embedding proof‑of‑work into learning pathways. Freshers with internships, project portfolios, or hands-on exposure are moving faster into growth tracks, while degree-only applicants face longer search cycles, he said. Fresher hiring intent in travel has surged from 26 per cent to 77 per cent; and Power and Energy saw a surge from 22 per cent to 72 per cent. Geographically, Bengaluru topped fresher hiring intent at 84 per cent, driven by Information Technology (81 per cent), e-commerce & technology start-ups (90 per cent). Engineering & infrastructure sector also showed huge demand for fresh talent led by roles for software testing engineer (54 per cent) and digital marketing executive (48 per cent). Mumbai was ranked second at 72 per cent powered by retail (91 per cent), FMCG (80 per cent), and healthcare & pharmaceuticals (52 per cent), the report said. In-demand courses that can enhance fresher employability include Certification in Business Analysis, AI and Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, AI-enabled Digital Marketing, and Project Management, the firm suggested. Silver Prices Bleed Today (Feb 18), Check 1 Gram And 1 Kg Rates In Major Cities Across India

Silver Prices Today Feb 18 2026: Silver prices today witnessed sharp volatility, even as gold slipped, with global cues and currency movements shaping sentiment in the precious metals market. In overseas markets, silver remained volatile, while gold traded below the $4,900 level as softer US Treasury yields offered limited support. A firmer US dollar further influenced price action, with the dollar index rising 0.10 per cent to 97.25, making dollar-denominated bullion costlier for other currency holders. Easing geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran also reduced safe-haven demand. Talks in Geneva resulted in an understanding on guiding principles for future nuclear negotiations. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the discussions as more constructive, though he clarified that a final agreement is not imminent and urged the US to stop threats of force. Market participants noted that thin liquidity due to Lunar New Year holidays in parts of Asia capped broader momentum. Analysts said silver’s heightened volatility reflects demand-supply imbalances and bouts of profit booking following steep gains over the past year. Despite near-term swings, institutional interest in precious metals remains steady, with gold ETF holdings continuing to edge higher and physical demand resilient in India and China. From a technical perspective, MCX silver has support at Rs 2,24,400 and Rs 2,18,800, while resistance is placed at Rs 2,32,200 and Rs 2,36,000. ABP Live Pet First | 7 Budget Grooming Tips That Actually Work For A Healthy Pet

Keeping your pet well-groomed doesn’t have to mean expensive salon visits every month. With rising grooming costs, many pet parents are looking for smarter, more affordable ways to maintain hygiene at home. Regular grooming isn’t just about appearance; it supports skin health, prevents infections, reduces shedding, and strengthens the bond between you and your pet. Here are seven practical, affordable grooming tips that genuinely work and are trusted by experienced pet owners. ALSO READ: ABP Live Pet First | Larry The Cat Marks 15 Years As Downing Street’s Unshakeable Chief Mouser 1. Invest Once In Basic Grooming Tools (Image Source: ABPLIVE AI) Instead of booking frequent grooming appointments, start by purchasing essential tools that last. A good-quality brush suited to your pet’s coat type, nail clippers, a mild pet shampoo, and grooming wipes can significantly cut long-term expenses. Choosing the right brush is crucial. For short-haired pets, a rubber curry brush helps remove loose fur and stimulate the skin. Long-haired breeds benefit from slicker brushes or wide-tooth combs that prevent matting. When you brush your pet regularly, you reduce shedding and prevent painful tangles that would otherwise require professional intervention. Quality tools may seem like an upfront investment, but they pay for themselves within a few months. 2. Create A Simple Bath Routine At Home (Image Source: ABPLIVE AI) Frequent professional baths can quickly add up. Instead, establish a manageable bathing schedule at home. Most dogs only require a bath every three to four weeks, while indoor cats rarely need regular baths unless advised by a vet. Over-bathing can actually strip natural oils and cause skin dryness. Use lukewarm water and a pet-safe shampoo. Drying is equally important. Pat your pet dry with an absorbent towel and allow air-drying in a warm, draft-free area. For pets comfortable with noise, a low-heat dryer setting works well. 3. Trim Nails Safely And Regularly (Image Source: ABPLIVE AI) Overgrown nails can cause discomfort, posture problems, and even joint strain. Many pet parents delay trimming out of fear, but with the right technique, it’s manageable and cost-effective. Invest in a sturdy nail clipper or grinder designed for pets. Trim small amounts at a time, avoiding the “quick,” the sensitive inner portion of the nail. For pets with light-colored nails, the quick is visible as a pink section. For darker nails, trim gradually and watch for a chalky white ring before stopping. Regular trims prevent overgrowth and reduce the risk of cracking or splitting. 4. Use DIY Grooming Wipes Between Baths (Image Source: ABPLIVE AI) Not every grooming session requires a full bath. Pet-safe grooming wipes are affordable and extremely effective for maintaining cleanliness between washes. Focus on paws, ears (outer area only), under the tail, and facial folds if your pet has them. You can also create a simple DIY wipe solution using warm water and a few drops of vet-approved pet shampoo. Dip a soft cloth, wring it out thoroughly, and gently clean targeted areas. This method helps remove dirt, allergens, and mild odors without stressing your pet. Regular wipe-downs reduce the need for frequent full baths, especially during rainy seasons when pets track mud indoors. 5. Brush Teeth Without Expensive Dental Treatments (Image Source: ABPLIVE AI) Dental care is often overlooked until problems arise and professional dental cleaning can be expensive. Introducing a simple brushing routine at home can prevent plaque buildup and bad breath. Use a pet-specific toothbrush or even a finger brush. Never use human toothpaste, instead, opt for enzymatic pet toothpaste formulated for safe swallowing. Begin slowly, allowing your pet to get used to the taste and sensation. Complement brushing with dental chews or vet-recommended toys that help scrape plaque naturally.  6. Control Shedding With Smart Diet Choices (Image Source: ABPLIVE AI) rooming isn’t just external, it starts from within. Excessive shedding often links to poor nutrition. Feeding a balanced diet rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids supports skin health and strengthens the coat. High-quality pet food reduces dull fur and dry skin, minimizing hair fall around the house. While premium food may seem pricier, it can lower grooming and cleaning costs over time. A healthy coat requires less intervention, fewer medicated shampoos, and reduced vet visits for skin issues. Always consult your veterinarian before adding supplements, but consider fish oil or coat-support blends if recommended. 7. Schedule Preventive Checkups Instead Of Emergency Visits (Image Source: ABPLIVE AI) While this may not seem like a grooming tip, preventive veterinary visits play a huge role in maintaining hygiene and overall appearance. Skin infections, ear mites, and parasites can escalate quickly, and treatment costs far more than routine checkups. Regular wellness exams help detect early signs of dermatological issues. Keeping vaccinations and deworming schedules updated also supports coat and skin health. Healthy pets require less corrective grooming. Think of preventive care as a long-term financial strategy. NYT Connections Answers (February 18): Puzzle #982 Left You Confused? Check Hints, & Solution

NYT Connections Answer: The New York Times’ daily word game, Connections, dropped its Thursday, February 18 puzzle, and it brought a strong mix of retro vibes and clever word links. As usual, players had to sort 16 words into four hidden groups. Some words felt like they clearly belonged together, while others were meant to distract you.  Like Wordle, Connections resets every day and keeps players coming back with its simple look but tricky thinking. If today’s puzzle slowed you down, here is a full and easy breakdown with hints and answers. What Is Connections And How Do You Play? Connections is a daily word puzzle where you see 16 words on the screen. Your goal is to place them into four groups of four words each. Every group shares one common idea or theme. The hard part is that many words seem like they could fit in more than one group. These confusing words are placed on purpose to make you think twice. For example, some words may sound old-fashioned, while others feel modern. Some may look like food items, while others sound like actions. You only get four wrong tries. On the fourth mistake, the game ends and the answers are shown. Each group also has a color to show difficulty: Yellow is the easiest Green is easy Blue is medium Purple is the hardest This mix of limits and clever word choices is what makes Connections fun and challenging at the same time. Hints And Full Solution To NYT Connections (February 18) Here are the hints for today’s puzzle: Yellow: Farrah Fawcett's stylist's instructions. Green: Old-school approval. Blue: Poultry characterizers. Purple: These words all have something very important in common. Extra hints: Every group has a word containing the letter 'E'. More than one group looks backwards. One word from each group: Yellow: Feather Green: Wicked Blue: Crested Purple: Sour Full Solution for February 18: Yellow (Retro Hair Directives): Crimp, Curl, Feather, Tease Green (Retro Slang for Cool): Bad, Fly, Rad, Wicked Blue (Chicken Descriptors): Bantam, Crested, Free-Range, Leghorn Purple (___ Cream): Heavy, Shaving, Sour, Topical This puzzle played heavily with retro-sounding words. It was easy to think some of them belonged together when they didn’t. Words like “rad” and “crimp” felt like they shared the same old-school vibe, but the puzzle had other ideas.  The chicken group was more straightforward, while the cream group required you to think about what word could come after each one. Overall, a clever puzzle that rewarded careful thinking.

24K & 22K Gold Price Today: Gold prices slipped on Wednesday, even as silver posted gains, with global macro developments and a stronger US dollar weighing on bullion sentiment. In international markets, gold fell below the $4,900 mark, with softer US Treasury yields offering only limited support and keeping overall sentiment cautious across commodities. Easing geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran also reduced safe-haven demand. Reports indicated that both countries reached an understanding on key principles to guide future nuclear negotiations during talks in Geneva. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the discussions as more constructive than earlier rounds and said both sides plan to exchange draft texts for a possible agreement, though he cautioned that a final deal is not imminent. He also urged the United States to halt threats of force against Iran. Market participants said that thin liquidity due to Lunar New Year holidays across parts of Asia further capped gains. The dollar index edged up 0.10 per cent to 97.25, making dollar-denominated bullion more expensive for other currency holders. After Robot Dog Row, Galgotias University’s 'In-House' Soccer Drone Claim Goes Viral

Amid online scrutiny over its robotic dogs showcased at the India AI Impact Summit, another claim by the Galgotias University has gone viral. The university has claimed that its faculty and students had designed and developed a soccer drone entirely in-house at its Greater Noida campus. The claim surfaced the same day university representatives were reportedly asked to leave the exhibition area at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. Sources said the action followed a separate controversy regarding the origin of robotic dogs showcased by the institution. One more AI Soccer Product developed by Galgotias Centre of Excellence 😡Who's going to tell Neha ji? 😭😭😭😭#FI pic.twitter.com/guthG81Z6v — Fundamental Investor ™ 🇮🇳 (@FI_InvestIndia) February 18, 2026 Galgotias University Controversy The university had described the soccer drone as the result of complete in-house engineering, from initial simulation work to real-world deployment. In videos circulating on social media, a university staff member is heard saying that the institution has developed everything from “end-to-end engineering” to building what was described as India’s first on-campus soccer drone arena. However, several social media users alleged that the drone in question resembles the Striker V3 ARF, a commercially available model reportedly priced at around Rs 40,000 in India. The Striker V3 is part of a soccer drone series developed by South Korea-based Helsel Group. Earlier at the summit, another controversy had emerged after a video showed university representatives presenting a quadruped robot as an innovation developed by its Centre of Excellence. The robot displayed was identified as the Unitree Go2, manufactured by Chinese firm Unitree Robotics. The device is available for purchase in India at prices ranging between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 3 lakh. At the event, it was reportedly labelled as “Orion.” University Issues Clarification  However, Galgotias University Professor Neha Singh said their statements were misinterpreted.  "I was explaining what the robot can do, its features, and all related details. Somewhere along the way, the message got slightly digressed, and later many things became controversial," she said. "The purpose was for students to study the robot and further develop it, contributing to a stronger and more Viksit Bharat. That was our full intention. Unfortunately, due to the surrounding excitement and hype, some things got misrepresented, and the words were slightly misinterpreted, which led to this controversy. We are genuinely embarrassed about it and feel bad that this happened at the AI Summit, which was meant to showcase our students’ work," Singh added.
