Masked Men Loot Apple Store Overnight In Los Angeles Amid Immigration Protests: WATCH

As unrest continues to grip Los Angeles, a wave of chaos swept through the city on Monday night with several people looting an Apple store overnight. The incident, caught on camera and now circulating widely on social media, shows a group of masked individuals smashing into the store and fleeing with electronics just moments before police officials arrived at the spot.

The incident comes amid protests in the city against US President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement. The unrest was triggered after federal authorities ramped up immigration operations last Friday, arresting more than 40 individuals.

The videos show people rushing out of the stores on Sunday night after looting the store. Some can also be seen trapped inside the Apple store as cops arrived.

According to a report by the New York Post, a man's body was fpunf on a sidewalk in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday, where the lootings took place.

"Police received a call around 1:30 a.m. to West 3rd Street and Broadway, where the unresponsive man, who has yet to be identified, was found," the LAPD said.

The man’s death is under investigation, and it is being ascertained whether it is related to the protests.

Protesters have been demanding greater accountability from ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), voicing concern over the treatment of immigrants and the impact of the department's actions on the communities.

In response to the escalating protests, Trump ordered the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles. Another contingent of 2,000 troops and 700 Marines is expected to arrive shortly, a move that has drawn sharp criticism from local leaders.

California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass have openly opposed Trump's decision of militarising the city during a moment of civil unrest. Newsom has even sued Trump administration over the National Guard deployment.

Newsom took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his outrage, describing the move as reckless. “This isn't about public safety,” Newsom said. “It’s about stroking a dangerous President’s ego.”

He further condemned the deployment as “disrespectful to our troops,” highlighting the tension between federal and state authorities.

Trump, on the other hand, has lashed out at the local leadership, accusing them of failing to ensure public safety and maintaining that LA would have been  “completely obliterated” if he hadn’t sent the soldiers in.
