Europe recorded over ten thousand excess deaths during a late June heatwave. Older populations, aged sixty-five and above, were most severely impacted by the extreme heat. Scientists link this heatwave's intensity and frequency to human-caused climate change. France and Belgium reported very high excess mortality during the final week of June.
