Earth's atmosphere scatters sunlight, making the sky appear blue due to shorter blue light waves. Longer waves, like red and yellow, dominate sunsets as light travels through more atmosphere. This phenomenon differs on other planets with varied atmospheres. Space, lacking an atmosphere, remains black as there's nothing to scatter sunlight.
