India's fastest man Gurindervir Singh crashed out of the Commonwealth Games men's 100m heats despite finishing second after clocking 10.39 seconds, with coach James Hillier later revealing he had been carrying a hamstring injury for a month. The 24-year-old, who set a national record of 10.09 seconds in May, finished 28th overall and missed the semifinals.
